1

Required means required

Mark items as must-do. A visit can't be closed until they're answered, so baseboards don't quietly get skipped.

2

Right list, every job

Auto-attach templates by service type: standard, deep clean, move-out, Airbnb turnover or office janitorial.

3

Proof for the client

A PDF with answers and photos can go to the client after the visit, ending most complaints before they start.

Build your standards once

Most cleaning companies have their standards in someone's head or on a laminated sheet in the van. The checklist builder turns that into a template with sections for each room and the exact items your crew should do.

Pick from eight question types so each item captures what you actually need. A kitchen section might be checkboxes, a required photo of the stovetop, and a short note for anything that needs the client's attention.

  • Short answer and long answer
  • Dropdowns and checkboxes
  • Numbers, such as rooms cleaned or bags removed
  • Images, dates and signatures
  • Sections for kitchen, baths, bedrooms, living areas

The right checklist shows up on its own

Tie templates to service types and they attach to the job automatically. Book a move-out clean and the crew sees the move-out list with inside cabinets, inside fridge and wall spot-cleaning. Book a standard biweekly and they see the lighter list.

Templates are versioned. When you add 'wipe light switches' to the standard clean in March, visits from February still show exactly what was asked and answered back then. Your history stays honest.

Required items close the gap

The complaints that cost you clients are rarely about the whole house. They're about one thing: the shower glass, the ceiling fan, the baseboards behind the door. Mark those items as required and the cleaner can't close the visit until they're answered.

Pair a required item with a required photo and you have proof. If a client calls the next day, the office opens the visit and sees the photo, the timestamp and the cleaner who took it.

  • Required items block visit completion until done
  • Photo requirements on high-complaint items
  • Signatures for walk-throughs and move-out handoffs
  • Works offline in the field app, syncs later

Reports clients and managers can use

After the visit, the checklist can be emailed to the client as a PDF with photos. Property managers and Airbnb hosts in particular love this. It's the record they need to show their own owners or guests.

For the office, checklist answers export as CSV so you can see patterns: which items get flagged, which homes always need extra time, which cleaners skip photos. You can also publish a shareable form for things like a client walk-through or a commercial site inspection.

A day with maid.co

The baseboard complaint that never happened

Say a new recurring client emails on Thursday morning: the upstairs bathroom baseboards look untouched. Before the owner has finished reading, the office manager opens Wednesday's visit. The checklist shows the baseboard item checked, with an after photo of clean trim taken at 11:42 by Jess.

The office replies with the photo and an offer to come look at anything else. The client writes back that she was looking at the guest bath, which wasn't on this week's scope. One quick add-on quote later, the guest bath is on the list going forward, and nobody had to argue about memory.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Can I have different checklists for different services?

Yes. Build as many templates as you need, like standard clean, deep clean, move-in/move-out, vacation rental turnover, post-construction and commercial janitorial, and tie each to a service type. When a job is booked for that service, the matching checklist attaches to every visit automatically. You can still add or swap a checklist on a single visit.

What happens to old answers when I edit a template?

Templates are versioned. Editing a checklist creates a new version for future visits, while past visits keep the version the cleaner actually filled out. That way your records show what was asked at the time, which matters when you're resolving a complaint or reviewing a commercial contract months later.

Can clients receive the checklist?

Yes. After a visit, the completed checklist can be emailed to the client as a PDF including photos. Many companies send it to property managers, Airbnb hosts and commercial clients by default, and keep it optional for residential clients who don't want extra email.

Can cleaners fill checklists without signal?

Yes. Checklists work offline in the field app. Cleaners can check items, write notes, take photos and collect signatures with no connection. Answers are stored on the phone and sync to the visit as soon as the device reconnects, so nothing is lost in basements or large buildings.

Can I bring my checklists over from Jobber?

The Jobber importer brings over completed checklists from past visits, including photos and signatures, so your history comes with you. Templates are quick to rebuild in the checklist builder, and most teams use the move as a chance to tighten their room-by-room standards.
